Get Cycling welcomes new member to Board of Directors!

We are absolutely delighted to welcome John Skelton as our new Non-Executive Director to the board of Get Cycling!

We’re looking forward to having him on the team and all the great ideas he can share with us!

 Born and raised in York I have cycled for as long as I can remember. I started touring aged 10 around the Highlands and Islands with my dad. (both with a Sturmey-Archer 3-speed!).  By the time I graduated to a 10-speed ‘racer’  My mates and I were cycling all over Yorkshire and beyond.

I returned to ‘’proper’ cycling to regain my freedom following a life-changing stroke at 47. Two years later I rode my adapted trike 2500km through Europe from York to Tuscany and have since toured extensively in the UK, Holland & Belgium. Many more tours are planned in my head!

Having seen the huge benefits of cycling to my physical and mental wellbeing  I hope to facilitate and encourage other disabled people by campaigning for inclusive and accessible infrastructure and facilities or just by providing a bit of helpful advice.

Professionally, I am a Chartered Building Surveyor and Architectural designer with 30 years of industry experience as a senior manager Founder, Managing Director and Charity Trustee.
