Vicky Hogg smashes her 100 marathons in 100 days goal!
South Yorkshire legend Vicky Hogg vowed to run 100 marathons in 100 days to raise money for 4 charities and she has not only smashed that goal – she did one more for good measure! 101 marathons in 101 days is not a feat to be sniffed at and we are incredibly proud to have been the tiniest cog in the marathoning machine that kept us updated with every single marathon she did, every single day for 101 days!
Initially planning to run all the marathons, after damaging her Achilles tendon around 10 marathons in Vicky posted on her Facebook that she was preparing to take it a bit slower and even attempt to cycle with one leg, she was devastated but determined to carry on. Cue a chap named Glenn, not only suggesting a handcycle to continue with the challenge and also rest her injured leg but also contacting us on her behalf – our wonderful customer service manager Chris set her up with an Amtryke handcycle to aid her with the rest of the challenge for as long as she needed it.
After nicknaming it The Beast, Vicky smashed out some 10 kilometres in one go with the power of her arms! It’s not easy!
Vicky is already over halfway through her target so wing over to her fundraising page to donate and help her smash her goal.
The charities she is fundraising for are fantastic organisations supporting and raising awareness for a range of causes, have a look below for more information:
After completing her 100th marathon on day 100 – Vicky wanted to tie a bow on it and finish on a Friday! So without a second thought, she cracked on with one last marathon – 101 in 101 days! Finishing on the 21st of April.
Well done Vicky – a truly heroic feat and we are so proud to have helped in our own small way!
A big thank you to Kay Shackleton Photography for supplying us with stunning photos to use.
In case you missed it – her fundraising page is here – donate a little and help her support these incredible charities!
