Bike Week 2025 - Riding With Pride!

Celebrating queer joy on wheels!

For Day 3 of Bike Week, and because June is also Pride Month, we’re celebrating queer joy on wheels. Because cycling spaces haven’t always been inclusive, and visibility still matters.

Whether you're a queer rider yourself, or you're working to make your cycling space more welcoming, today is about affirming that LGBTQ+ people belong in cycling. Always have, always will.

Taking pride in the activity we love.

Many LGBTQ+ cyclists have had to carve out space in a culture that hasn’t always felt safe or accepting. That’s slowly changing, thanks to the incredible work of queer cyclists, organisers, and community groups creating visible, supportive spaces for riders to connect, ride, and be themselves.

Because just like accessible cycles, safe spaces to be seen and heard are part of what makes cycling truly inclusive.

We would be here all day if we listed all of the amazing LGBTQ+ cyclists, organisations and groups in this humble blog, but here are just a small selection of spaces and resources for any queer riders, looking for community and friends:

Queers On Wheels exists to bring all queers together into cycling, wherever they fall in the LGBTQ+ spectrum, and whatever their level of expertise.

Out Velo - The inclusive cycling club with a passion for adventures in Britain's wild spaces.
At their heart is a group of experienced LGBTQ+ adventure cyclists; however, their membership is mixed and free!

Velociposse is a community cycling club in and around London for all women, trans and non-binary people. They ride, race and hold skills sessions. Their aim is to get more people into cycling through community, support and knowledge.

Rainbow Riders is an awesome LGBTQ+ cycling club in Greater Manchester.
"No matter your sexuality, gender identity, race, religion, age, body type, or the bike you ride, you’re totally welcome to hop on board and pedal with us. Let’s hit the road together!"

Sisters In The Wild - community-focused bikepacking and gravel adventures for women, non-binary and trans riders.
From close-to-home adventures to wild journeys overseas, they have a growing range of trips, events and coaching opportunities for wherever you are in your biking journey.

Special mention to our amazing customer Amy!
In 2019, she cycled from London to Paris in 4 days on an ICE Adventure trike that she bought from us.
Over 300 miles in 4 days for St Luke's Hospice - what a feat!

How can you help make cycling safer and more inclusive?

  • Use inclusive language - Don’t assume gender. Say “partner” instead of husband/wife. Say “everyone” instead of “ladies and gents.” Asking for someone's pronouns is no effort and makes a big difference.
  • Follow diverse riders on social media - Representation helps us all understand others' points of view, their experiences, and showcases the diversity of the world we live in.
  • Support LGBTQ+ cycling groups - Share their events, amplify their work, or partner with them.
  • Host Pride rides or open socials - Create visible spaces where people can show up as themselves. You don't havr to be queer yourself to get involved. Allyship is important and welcome!
  • Stand up for others - If you hear or see homophobic or transphobic language or behaviour, challenge it. That’s how change happens and how we can use our privilege and voice for good.

Cycling is freedom. And nobody should have to leave part of themselves at the door to take part.

This Pride Month - and all year round - we stand with LGBTQ+ cyclists. We see you, we celebrate you, and we’re committed to making cycling more welcoming for everyone.
