- Outstanding agility
- Excellent safety and stability
- With Differential: improved traction
- Easy transfer from wheelchair to trike
- E-motor option
With this model hand cyclists can choose between two seating options; the Kettwiesel, with lower seating position, or Lepus, with a higher seat. Both models are delta trikes with one wheel in front and two in the back. This geometry makes them not only wonderfully nimble but also incredibly stable.
The Handbike comes with a beautifully engineered hand-crank assembly that efficiently transfers the power from your arms to the wheels. The adjustable leg supports offer comfortable stability and protection for the lower body.
A delta trike is practically untippable when parked. The seat is also the perfect height for easy transfer from a wheelchair. For mounting and dismounting, the hand-crank assembly is folded forward and out of the way. And like all HASE components: it can be perfectly adjusted to the size and preferences of the rider.
Thanks to rear-wheel drive, Handbikes have such great traction that even riding uphill is fun. If you plan to take your trike to the trails, a differential is indispensable. It transfers the power to both rear wheels. And if you’re looking for even more luxury on hilly routes, there’s always the e-motor option.
The design of the Handbike is much like any other bike: the shifters and brake levers are mounted to the handgrips. The difference is that these grips also function as hand pedals. Sounds a lot like multitasking, but the controls are actually very easy to learn.
The hand cranks are available in two different sizes: 174-millimeter and 150-millimeter. This helps adapt the Handbike to the rider for perfect ergonomics.
Fast cycling requires powerful brakes: the Handcycle is fitted with Tektro hydraulic disc brakes offering superior braking power compared to cable-actuated brakes, they are extremely responsive and provide perfect modulation.
Fitted with a Shimano Nexus hub and Schlumpf Mountain Drive you always have a gear for tackling almost any gradient.
There are many options available for the Hase Handcycle, this makes the cycle customisable for almost any rider. Please get in touch for advice of which options would work for you.

Adapt and Customise
Electric motor: Heinzmann hub
Choice of seating position (higher or lower).
Shorter crank length 150mm
5-point lap & shoulder harness system – with or without shoulder pads.
Differential: differentials allow both rear wheels to be driven – balancing out the drive forces – and this makes going round corners the same whichever way you turn. Without a differential all pedalling forces travel through one wheel – a differential makes it much less likely to lose traction in slippery conditions.
Other available options include a choice of forks, rear shock absorbers, gearing (including Rolhoff 14-speed hub), crank sets, front & rear wheels, brakes, seats, fenders, lighting systems, racks & bags, walking stick holder, indicators, wheel covers and more.
Other colours are available at extra cost, in any of the standard RAL colours.
A range of adaptations is available. See the Accessories & Adaptations section of this website.
