Regaining Independence: How a Trike Rack Helped Ken Explore Again
When Ken had a stroke at the age of 55, he wasn’t sure whether he’d be able to enjoy cycling again.
Although he had always enjoyed leisurely rides, cycling on two wheels no longer felt safe. He explained:
“I knew I needed to maintain some exercise in my retirement, but after the stroke, I found I wasn’t confident on my bike. If I had to stop quickly, I couldn’t put my foot down fast enough on my right-hand side, so I often just fell over.”
Looking for a way to stay active, Ken decided to try a tricycle. The extra stability gave him the confidence to get back out cycling and enjoy being outdoors again.
A new sense of freedom
Owning a tricycle opened up new possibilities, but Ken and his wife soon discovered another challenge. How could they transport it to new places?

Ken said:
“We had a tow bar fitted at the time of our purchase and the rack fits on and off easily.”
Being able to transport his tricycle meant they were no longer limited to cycling close to home.
“While trips are generally within about 30 miles of our home, the rack has opened up lots of new places for us to explore because we’re no longer limited to routes from our front door.”
For Ken, it wasn’t just about carrying a tricycle. It was about having the freedom to visit new places, enjoy days out with his wife, and continue an active lifestyle.
He added:
