Fancy something a bit longer and intense? Route 66 route from Greater Manchester to Yorkshire offers you the chance to enjoy some of this area’s fascinating industrial heritage. On the route, you’ll see unusual waterways architecture and fascinating feats of engineering. It’s around 11 and a half hours cycling and over 50% traffic-free and is full of fascinating scenes.

A firm favourite with locals, families especially is the York Solar System Route. Traffic-free aside from a small section through a quiet residential area, it’s a great route to take the kids and learn about our Solar System – each planet is to scale in size and distance from each other and it’s truly fascinating to put into perspective the vastness of the portion of the universe we call home. There are some great points of interest along the way.
