International Women’s Day IWD 2024 – Celebrating Women in Cycling
From breaking barriers to shattering stereotypes, these women trailblazers are pedalling their way to the top, proving that cycling is for everyone. Happy IWD!

Bianca Fernandez
Chair of Women Of Colour Cycling Collective
As chair of the Women of Colour Cycling Collective, she works to break down barriers to women and increase gender and racial representation.
In her own words, she likes to ride bikes hard and fast and loves racing, but nothing is better than a good social ride with cake!
We couldn’t agree more!
Heidi Barker
Charity fundraiser and cycling legend
When Heidi was 9, she raised £16k by walking the distance from Land’s End to John O’Groats. In February this year, she raised £6k for Alzheimer’s Research UK and Macmillan Cancer Research by cycling the equivalent distance from Paris to London – what a superstar!

Greta Rafi McMillan
Award-winning film-maker and cycling champion
Greta is an artist, filmmaker, environmentalist and cycling advocate – she uses eyegaze technology to create beautiful art and champions cycling as a greener way to travel and protect the planet – amazing!
Mavis Paterson
Fundraiser, cyclist and Guinness record-holder
Taking up cycling in her 50s, Mavis has raised money over the years through charity bike rides.
At 81 she became the oldest woman to cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats, and at 85 she just completed a 1000-mile cycle trip of Scotland – an absolute legend!
