For some children, learning to ride a standard two-wheel cycle can feel out of reach. Finding the right cycle can change that completely.
Just before Christmas last year, we teamed up with Family Fund to allow a number of families with a disabled child to own a brand -new accessible cycle, without having to buy it themselves.
One of those families was Sarah and her son, Logan.
Finding the right cycle for Logan
Logan has always struggled to ride a standard two-wheel cycle. With the right support and the right cycle, however, he has now discovered a different way to enjoy cycling.
Through the Family Fund programme, Logan received a Tomcat Dragon trike. The trike has helped him feel more confident and secure while riding. He is now ready to get outside, explore, and enjoy new adventures with his family.
Sarah told us how much the programme has meant to them:
“I’m absolutely over the moon. I’m so lucky to get help with my son Logan and to get him a bike he likes. He loves it! I think it was the red Dragon they got him. I’m so happy and so is Logan. We want to say a big thank you for all the help you gave us.”
More than just a cycle

For families like Sarah and Logan’s, having access to the right cycle can offer much more than a way to get from A to B.
Sarah told us that the Family Fund programme has been a huge help to families who would not ordinarily be able to afford a brand new accessible cycle.
It gives children the opportunity to experience independence and develop confidence. It can also encourage them to spend more time outdoors, while combining exercise with something that should be at the heart of every child’s cycling experience: fun.
Having a cycle of their own also means families can build cycling into everyday life. Whether that means a trip to the park, a family ride, or simply getting outside together, the opportunities can be significant.
Making cycling more accessible
At Get Cycling CIC, we know that there is no single cycle that works for everyone. That’s why we offer a wide range of specialist cycles and take the time to understand each rider’s needs.
We were proud to work with Family Fund to help families access cycles that may otherwise have been beyond their reach.
Logan’s story is a brilliant example of what can happen when a child is given the right cycle and the opportunity to ride.
From struggling to ride a standard two wheel cycle to feeling confident, safe, and ready for adventures, Logan is now enjoying cycling in a way that works for him.
And that’s exactly why we believe everyone should have the opportunity to cycle.
