Cycle naming competition
This post was originally published in 2021. It shared a social media competition linked to one of our hire cycles. The competition is now closed, and we no longer run this promotion.
We are keeping this page as an archive to reflect past community activity.
About the competition
In 2021, we invited people to help name one of our family cargo cycles, the Babboe Curve.
At the time, the cycle was used for hire trips around York. It was popular with families and groups exploring the city.
We asked our community to suggest names through our social media channels. This helped create a fun and interactive way to engage with cycle hire.
Prize at the time
The competition offered a small prize as a thank you for taking part.
One winner received a half-day cycle hire voucher for two people.
This allowed them to explore York using our hire cycles and traffic-free routes.
Community engagement
The competition ran across:
- X (formerly Twitter)
It helped encourage conversations about cycling in York and introduced more people to cycle hire options.
