Description

Standard features include Shimano Nexus 8-speed hub gear, freewheel switch, rear hydraulic brake, front V brake, rear carrier rack, security lock, chain guard, lights, and environmentally friendly paint. The frame comes with five-year warranty.

A low step-though frame and stability of three-wheels make it easy for both the front and rear rider to mount and dismount.

An ingenious clutch integrated into the transmission system between the two riders makes it possible to disengage the pedalling for the front rider using a lever on the handlebars, so the pedalling passenger can be obliged to pedal or allowed to freewheel at the flick of a switch!

The main advantages of a steer-from-the-rear tandem over normal tandems are that the rider sitting at the rear can see and communicate much more easily with the front rider and monitor their wellbeing more easily. Steer-from-the-rear tandems allow the front rider to enjoy a view of the road ahead and feel more involved in the ride.

Adapt and Customise

Electric drive system: this product is also available with an electric motor. The electric assist ‘Silent System’ is produced entirely by Van Raam. The motor, battery, controller, smart display, and software are developed especially for inclusive cycles. The motor also assists when reversing the cycle (pedalling backwards). A smartphone app connects with the settings of the e-system, and can record cycling data, including speed and distance. Battery capacity can also be viewed on the app, real-time.

The Silent electrical system is a 36 Volt system with 250-Watt motor. The pedal sensor detects movement and force and adjusts output accordingly. The system is very smooth – unexpected jolting, which can occur in other systems, is prevented with the Silent System.
