Castle Howard’s ‘On Your Bike’ cycling event in conjunction with York based ‘Get Cycling’ is guaranteed to get all the family in the saddle on Sunday 7th August 2011.
Visitors to the House & Grounds will be invited to ‘try out’ a number of weird and wonderful pedal powered machines supplied by ‘Get Cycling’. From a pedal powered scalextric, tiny bikes for toddlers right up to the ‘Mega’ bike which seats six people with one person steering and everyone pedaling.
If visitors prefer not to test their balance on a penny farthing or zoom round a track on a speedy KMX bike they can take a more sedate stroll around a display of vintage bikes in the Boar Garden. There will also be a talk from Jim McGurn of ‘Get Cycling’, who will be promoting the benefits of cycling in all its varieties, whether for leisure, transport, health and happiness, and the environment.
This event promises to be a laughter packed, entertaining day for all the family. Even if you can’t ride a bike, or never have tried cycling before!
Admission to ‘On Your Bike’ is included in your admission to Castle Howard, and cycle rides are free of charge.
