College of Cycling City and Guilds

Get Cycling offer practical classes and courses at all ability levels. Some are for the general public, and based at our training centre on the bike path network in York. Others are provided by our mobile training unit booked by schools, community groups, workplaces, universities, local authorities and holiday groups.

Get-into-cycling days P1010713

Lively sessions for beginners, early-days cyclists and anyone wanting to learn more. In five hours of new experiences, we cover:

  • Buying the right bike, equipment and clothing
  • Setting your bike up for comfort and riding efficiency
  • Safe riding techniques
  • Basic bike maintenance including punctures

You can try out various types of bike, and are welcome to bring your own bike for a check-over, advice and minor adjustments.

Cost: £60 inc VAT per person per day


P1010713 Get-into-cycling evening courses

As above spread over three weekly evening sessions of two hours.

Cost: £70 inc VAT per person per course


College of Cycling comes to town

We can bring our College of Cycling touring unit to workplaces, schools, universities or community centres near you, often arranged through your local authority. From a day to a month. We can typically give a lively get-into-cycling experience to up to 400 individuals in a week, in small groups.

Price on application. Example cost for local authorities: £30 plus VAT per person per session.


P1010713 City and Guilds qualifications in York

We offer training and qualifications in cycle maintenance and repair to City and Guilds level 2.

City and Guilds visiting you

We provide City and Guilds away from our training base: using our fully equipped mobile training unit. For example, we provide weekly visits to secondary schools and colleges. This qualification is also assessed at level 2.

Get Cycling’s City and Guilds certificates are provided through Activ8 Learning, a long-established charity which has, as an accredited and registered City and Guilds centre, provided training and certification for thousands of students. We act as their training and assessment centre.


P1010713 Bespoke group experiences

We offer bespoke experiences in York for groups, for a single day or more. Ingredients can include: bike loans, seminars on aspects of cycling, and guided rides along the bike path network. We can also recommend appropriate accommodation for your group. We can customise the cycling experience for school, family, workplace or community groups.

Cost: £55 inc VAT per person per day. Minimum group size: 12.




Inclusive cycling breaks and holidays P1010713

We offer inclusive residential cycling holidays, with all specialised cycles supplied, full support and an evening social programme and are able to provide tandems, side by side cycles, wheelchair transports etc.

Our preferred venue is the modern eco-build youth hostel with wheelchair accessible rooms in the National Forest near Derby, situated in the middle of a network of delightful off-road routes through the forest and round the lakes.

These holidays are offered in bespoke form for community groups, special schools and colleges, large family groups, etc. They can be from two days to a week long, and can take place at a venue of your choice.

We listen carefully to your specialised requirements and bring the bikes you need, along with skilled staff to ride with you. In some cases we can even bring you a selection of specialised cycles in advance to check they are right for your holiday.
